Due to forthcoming retirement, we are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join our friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong legal accounting experience and a sound working knowledge of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules. Ideally you will be SOLAS qualified or working towards the qualification

As a Legal Cashier, you will be expected to

  • Possess a strong attention to detail, proficiency with legal accounting software and knowledge of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts rules

  • Input and progress data accurately and promptly onto the firm’s Practice Management System

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other management reports as required

  • Assist in preparing year-end accounts and liaising with external auditors

  • Liaise with fee-earners regarding transactions

  • Use on-line banking systems for processing payments

  • Process monthly salaries and manage PAYE

  • Provide audit evidence and ensure compliance with Law Society rules for client funds

  • Recognise and manage and report risk effectively

  • Be confident working with the Practice Management System

  • Have a positive attitude, be numerate and methodical

  • Be a team player who can also work using your own initiative
